What Working With Me FEELS Like From Start to Finish

Hiring a photographer is not just about the images you receive, it’s about the experience that builds up through the process. From the very beginning, my approach is centred on clarity done with intention and ease. I believe that when people feel understood and comfortable, the photographs naturally become more honest.

1. THE FIRST CONVERSATION

Every project starts with listening. Before talking about pricing, packages, or deliverables, I want to understand why the images are being made and what they are meant to communicate. I want to know where they will live and who they are for. This conversation sets the foundation as it helps us align expectations early and ensures that the work is approached thoughtfully, not generically.

Whether it’s a portrait session, a wedding, a documentary or commercial assignment, the goal at this stage is simple: clarity of your vision.

2. Planning & Visual Direction

Once we’re aligned, planning begins. This might involve discussing mood, references, location, wardrobe, timing, or how the images will be used across different platforms. This process is very detailed and it matters so that the results are intentional and expected. I don’t believe in overcomplicating the process — but I do believe in preparation. Good planning removes pressure on the day of the shoot and creates room for spontaneity when it matters.

3. THE SHOOT DAY

On the day of the shoot, my role is not just to photograph, but to guide.

I work calmly, observe carefully, and adjust as needed. I give direction when it helps, and space when it’s required. The aim is to create an environment where people can be present, not perform. For clients who feel camera-shy, this approach makes a difference because, in fast-paced environments, it keeps things grounded and for emotional moments, it allows them to unfold naturally. The focus is always on capturing what feels real.

4. Selection & Editing

After the shoot, the work continues quietly.

I review the images carefully, selecting frames that tell the story clearly and honestly. Editing is handled with restraint not driven by trends, but by tone, consistency, and longevity. The goal is not to overwhelm with quantity, but to deliver images that are well curated and in-line with your story and/or vision in order to have a gallery that is well considered and complete.

5. Delivery & Use

Images are delivered in a clear, organised format that is ready for use.

If needed, I also offer guidance on how best to use the photographs; whether for online platforms, print, or long-term archiving. Photography doesn’t end at delivery; it continues in how the images live and are experienced.

6. Beyond the Project

Many clients return after the first experience not because they have to, but because continuity matters. Over time, working together builds understanding and this makes the process become smoother and produce more consistent visuals and deeper storytelling. That long-term relationship is something I value deeply.

Working with me is designed to feel intentional, respectful, and collaborative from start to finish with the aim being not just to create images that look good, but images that feel right, last longer, and represent you or your brand truthfully.

That’s the standard I hold myself to on every project.
